innovation
110,000 inhabitants -
14 communes
54,000 jobs - 2,000 companies - 23
dedicated business development zones
- 20 higher education and research establishments
- 20,000 students
Over the past fifty years, the Plateau de Saclay has become the chosen
location for a scientific university, several prestigious 'Grandes Ecoles' and
a wide range of research laboratories specialising in a multitude of fields on
an international level.
Unique in France, this combination creates synergies and technological
innovations which have world-wide repercussions. Local laboratories have been
the source of four Nobel prizes and six Fields medals.
Each year, 7,000 researchers and engineers from all over the world come to
the area to take part in conferences or collaborative projects. The Plateau de
Saclay District Authority and the main education and research establishments
have founded a partnership, the Science Welcome
service in order to make their stay as enjoyable as possible.
Together with the Massy and Orly sites, the Plateau de Saclay is recognised
by the French government as a science and technology development zone with a
European stature. It is the only zone in France comparable to the major
world-wide training, innovation, research and development centres. This is why
so many high-technology companies have chosen the Plateau de Saclay, and found
it to be a fertile and privileged region.
The development scheme initiated and organised
by the Plateau de Saclay District Authority
, is intended to promote and encourage the area's high scientific and
technological standards, through land developments, infrastructure and
facilities and by introducing new and improved services necessary for injecting
fresh energy into the zone. It is designed to serve all those living and
working in the region and to help them achieve their full potential.
Saclay Scientipôle continues to offer
numerous opportunities for new
businesses and investors looking for an exceptional location.
